Problems of consuming A1 milk.
1. Digestive Discomfort
- When A1 beta-casein is digested, it releases a peptide called Beta-Casomorphin-7 (BCM-7).
- BCM-7 can slow down food movement in the gut and irritate the digestive system.
- This may lead to:
- Bloating
- Gas
- Constipation
- Abdominal pain
- IBS-like symptoms (irritable bowel syndrome)
2. Lactose-Intolerance-like Symptoms
- Even people not truly lactose intolerant sometimes feel discomfort with A1 milk because of BCM-7.
- Many mistake it for lactose intolerance, while the real issue is the protein type.
3. Inflammatory Effects
- BCM-7 may increase inflammation in the body.
- In some studies, it has been linked to respiratory issues, eczema, and skin allergies in sensitive individuals.
4. Potential Link to Chronic Diseases (still under research)
- Some observational studies suggest possible connections between A1 milk consumption and:
- Type 1 Diabetes (especially in genetically susceptible children)
- Heart disease (due to inflammatory peptides)
- Neurological issues (since BCM-7 can interact with opioid receptors in the brain, possibly affecting mood/behavior)
⚠️ Important: These links are still debated in scientific communities and not fully proven.
5. Children’s Health Concerns
- Since children’s digestive systems are more sensitive, BCM-7 from A1 milk may:
- Cause colic, indigestion, or constipation.
- Some studies suggest it might affect brain development and immunity, though evidence is not conclusive.
✅ Why A2 is Preferred
- A2 milk does not release BCM-7, making it easier to digest.
- Often recommended for:
- Children
- Elderly
- People with sensitive digestion
👉 In summary:
A1 milk problems mostly arise due to BCM-7, which can cause digestion issues and is suspected (but not fully proven) to be linked with diabetes, heart, and neurological disorders.
A2 milk is considered safer and healthier because it avoids these risks.
